Grandma's Yeast Rolls
There is nothing I hate more than blogs that don't put the recipe first, so here is the main recipe for my grandma's yeast rolls.
4 cups self rising flour
2 cups lukewarm water
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick butter melted
Stir all the ingredients together and refrigerate until you are ready to use.
Fill greased muffin tins halfway with the mix.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until done on the inside.
It is seriously that simple!
You can keep the batter, covered, in the refrigerator for up to one week. This does not have to rise before baking.
I use this recipe so much and mix all sorts of things in.
First I will use different types of flour like whole wheat, oat or another all purpose gluten free blend. Now I know grandma would scowl at that but it works.
I also make homemade breakfast poppers with this recipe where I make this batter up then put 1 tbsp. in the bottom of the muffin pan, top that with eggs, sausage and cheese and then put another tablespoon on top of that and bake.
My husband eats these every morning for breakfast!
Again these can be enjoyed on their own, with a little butter and jam or mix up some alternative flours and try something new.
Oh yeah I do sub out the sugar for honey anytime I make these.
I hope you enjoy this recipe from my grandma!
